Hi, it's Vicki from Bubblebubs here. Today I want to show you the Bubblebubs newborn nappies that we have and explain the differences between them and help you make the right choice for your family.

So we've got our more traditional style nappies: pre-fold so these are bamboo pre-folds. They're stretchy, so they fit on bub well. One of my favourite folds with these is an angel wing fold, which is simple. You fold it into three, and we bring the wings out at the front and bring the nappy up like that. And you've got your cute little newborn nappy.

If that's a little bit too big, you can fold it down at the front or the back and adjust the size of the nappy. So the advantage of a pre-fold is that your going to get a really good fit on a newborn, which is kind of important because of liquid poo. So it's liquid in and liquid out so we want to be containing it within the nappy and not wearing it ourselves.

Don't want any of the poo-namis. So a pre-fold is completely absorbent, so it does need a waterproof cover to go over the top, making it that bulletproof system. Moving on from there, are our Bam Bams. So these are what we call a fitted nappy, and that means it's elasticised. So it's a little bit easier to put on then a pre-fold, a little bit easier to get a perfect fit. So it comes with a two-layer tri-fold, that we fold in three or you can fold it however you want. And this one here, so we pop it on bub.

For smaller bulbs, we give it a nice big stretch over the baby, and we can get that fitting down like that. These fit from about one point two kilos up to eight kilos. And the baby as you can see, the same nappy on an eight-kilo bub like that. So again, these are fully absorbent, so they do need a waterproof cover to go over them. So like I said with the pre-fold, this is pretty much a bulletproof system because if anything happens to escape the nappy, it's going to get caught in the cover. If you're able to invest in a newborn system, especially if you have multiple children, I highly recommend pre-folds or bam bams as kind of your best option in that respect. So the other newborn nappy that we have is our Pebbles. This is a fairly new nappy. And it's an all-in-one, and we call this the carer-friendly nappy because it's as close as we can get to a single-use nappy with having to wash it. So these have got a minky inna, and your bamboo is in the booster. There's also some bamboo in the shell as well if anyway happens to miss the booster, it'll still get caught on the shell. So with the Pebbles, the legs roll in like this. So when they come out of the wash, you want to give them a really good stretch to make sure that those legs roll in because that's actually what's going to do all of the containing. So with an all-in-one, you've only got that one layer of protection.

So once it does contain well, If you happen to have one of those mighty big poos, a two-part system is going to contain a little bit better but as I said these are what we call carer-friendly nappies. These are great. They're so super trim so they're good for the nappie bag when you're out and about and that sort of stuff or when you're completely sleep deprived in the middle of the night, and you want a nice, quick, easy nappy change. Pebbles are the way to go.

So the other option for the newborn is a one size nappy. Now we generally say you need to be aware that a one size nappy will fit better from about the four to five-kilo mark through to toilet training. So these are our Candies. So they don't have any rice snaps, and I'll show you how that works in a sec. But they're an all in two nappy, so that means that they're in two pieces. So we snap our tri-fold. And this is all the boosting you will need for the newborn stage. And you can fold it so you've got the suede cloth against the skin, which that will help keep bum dry or if you wanted the more natural fibres against the skin, you could pop the bamboo layer down. So these do up at the side like this. So if you've got a baby that has got fat legs and skinny waist or vice versa, you can get a good fit around the legs and the waist, which is important with any nappy.

You need to make sure that it's on nice and firm. So because I don't have rice snaps, how that works is they kind of sit, they kind of fit in the baby's fat roll. So it's going to mould to the shape of your baby. Now if you compare a one-size nappy to say, our pebbles nappy, you can see that there's quite a size difference. So what to expect with a one-size nappy is that it's going to be bulky on a newborn for those first three months or so unless you have a big bub. But you may find that it's just that little bit bulkier. What I generally like to recommend is newborn nappies up until that three to four-month mark or until they get through that liquid poo stage.

Then they're going to start to fit into a one-size nappy well. And there's a couple of other advantages to that as well. In those first six weeks, you're going to be changing 500 odd nappies so having one-size nappies washed 500 times less, is going to mean by the time you get to toilet training, your nappies are going to be in a lot better condition and your newborn nappies that have only had 500 odd uses are going to be in better condition for your next bub and that sort of thing. There are pros and cons to any system, so I hope that's given a brief overview of our nappies for newborn babies. If you've got any questions to feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email. Thanks.
